RRS plate for IDIIN
« on: November 23, 2005, 03:22:01 am »

When I purchase a IDIIN, I am also going to be purchasing the RRS L Bracket Tripod plate.

Has anyone used the plate listed on the RRS site for hte IDII on the IDIIN???

it does not look like they have a new plate for the IDIIN.  Does the old plate (B57L) fit on the IDIIN as well???

I'm not sure if the camera dimensions have changed any with the larger LCD, or if all the controls are the same as the IDII.

Khurram,
The best way is to call RRS, you'll get the definite word!
My B57L was purchased for the original 1D bodies, I was a bit anxious when I got a Mark 2 as the rubber grip was said to be different but hopefully it fits Mark 2 bodies as precisely as the original 1D.

I have the 1D2 (NOT 1D2N), but I believe the body dimensions are the same for all Series 1 cameras.  Therefore the RRS L bracket *should* fit the N.  I don't guarantee this, however.

Unless someone else has direct experience, the bext way to find out is to contact RRS directly:

Unfortunately they don't do e-mail so you will either have to write, fax or use their toll-free phone number.

Francois,

Yes, the B57L fits the Mark II's perfectly (I have a 1D2).

I also have a Mark 2 now and the fit is perfect, as it was on the original 1D. So I wouldn't worry too much for the 1D MkIIN. However, I would contact RRS by fax to confirm the thing. I would hate to use sandpaper to adapt a brand new $180 plate to my camera!
