Maybe this is off topic but when I view our past work, there is very little if any that would be different with newer cameras.
This was shot with an old Nikon D2x and a Nikon Push Pull zoom that I love.
I had newer cameras in our cases and could have used them, but I dunno, the d2x kind of fit the scene, I like the files so I shot it with that.
The next was shot with a Canon 1ds1 (the original). Once again I had newer cameras with more mpx but it looked good on the Canon so I shot it.
I'm not saying new still cameras aren't needed, (though in reality I think it's more want than need) but in the last few years all but three cameras I bought were what I needed.
The REDs because they gave me a true cinema look at 4k (there was very little affordable 4k at the time) and the pana gh3 because I had some gigs where I needed fast autofocus for motion lifestyle.
The three other cameras I bought the Leica S2 and the olympus em-1 and 5 just because I wanted them. I have to admit the Lecia and olys are more fun, but the RED's and panasonics are much better for our bottom line.

P.S. My partner and producer said to me on this current gig "are you going to buy another camera?". I thought about it and said well uh, maybe . . . uh actually no.
She said good because you have shelves of cameras you don't use. She's right and I guess I should sell some of them, so I had the d2x boxed up, ready to ship to someone who would buy then thought, hmm I really like the look of that camera, so I guess I'm as big a gearhead as anyone.
