Excellent article that covers the new features and some of the initial bugs and our workarounds.

Sample grab from the article:
***There’s another power-saving feature that shows how Phase One paid attention to detail: Polling Interval. This allows the user to customize how often the iOS device polls or checks the location.***

Steve:

Kudos to your team for catching this.  They should pull the freaking app from the itunes.

If you update, and don't have the older version in a itunes backup, you are SOL.

I should have read the entire post on your site.

Personally as a owner of a IQ260 and one who already made the mistake up upgrading to iOS7 this type of stuff should have be happening.  I can't believe that they didn't test the adhoc connection any better and instead released a version that makes worse.  That's what around 90% of us are using as we want to be able to connect to the iPad.  There is no other way unless you carry around a powered hub and in the woods that ain't going to fly.

Sorry for my tone, but this is basically riducilus.  The app update should not have been released based on the additional mess is caused the adhoc connection.   I have to wonder how they "tested" this, it takes about 4 minutes to work up the adhoc connection and see if it's going to work or not.  You can't just un-install a app like on a PC or MAC and go back and get your previous version unless you have a older backup.  I did thank god and was able to go back to 1.4.

I've just had to google SOL, and now see what you mean. I too have an IQ260 which will not connect to iPhone or iPad on ad hoc network. It connected fine with Chris Ireland's (Phase One) phone with the old app. Chris and the rest of the Phase One chaps are currently in Hong Kong having a good old chin wag about things, one of which should be this issue. Another is the electronic level, which keeps going out of level - I had the same issue with a Leaf Credo and it appears to be a hardware problem, anyone else had this?

If you have not sync'd yet, delete the app.  Then go back to iTunes where you should have a copy of the older 1.4 and reload it.

There supposedly was some improvements to the level with the latest 5.10.1 IQ firmware but can't get any confirmation on that.

Jonathan,

I've had issues with both of these features even before the latest firmware/capture pilot.

With adhoc wifi I could reliably connect from my iPad IF my iPhone 4S had already connected. As soon as the iPhone went to sleep the iPad would drop. The static configuration worked a lot better with ios7 but sometimes I'd still have the same strange connection issue with any of my 5 iPads & minis (best not to ask why so many - it's the job and Cupertino is a customer :D )

On the levels, I don't know how they managed to break that capability so badly with the IQ260 vs my rock solid level IQ160. I sent Phase One video of my wildly jumping level and I had my first back replaced because of it by my dealer (although the new one was identical in this respect).

The Phase One guys need to invest in some better software QA folks or adopt more of a quality mindset for released products especially given what we invest in them. The odd quirk is fine but some of these issues are just plain poor quality control in the development and test process. I don't have image quality complaints so perhaps that's where their best and brightest are committed but the usability stuff kills them.

Btw, I haven't installed the latest firmware yet - does anyone know if they made the 10s exposure nag screen configurable or not? As a tech camera shooter I hit this all the time and I WANT long exposures not shorter higher ISO alternatives so it irritates the heck out of me. I also use the timer on the display so blanking the screen at 10s really pleases me no end each and every time.

Graham

I can test it on mine.  What is the 10s nag screen.  I also liked the timer but thought when it turned off all you had to do was touch the screen to get it back.
