You got me wonderin'.... stairs, indoors or out, but if not, then a reflection of same on some chrome? All this stuff excites me no end: a real mental exercise in place of the obvious confrontation with the established norms. And thinking of them, perhaps that's why landscape assumes a greater beauty when it's done in black and white and removed from the way it usually looks; fake colours just look what they are. But either way, I think they must remain small images. For me, an enormous photograph on a domestic wall is a breach of sensitivity - but a nod to the consumer within us. Enormous photographs on office walls (or in galleries, of course) ring more true, but still, I think, require a sense of proportion to work.

Not Snaefellsjökull, but I find all sorts of suggestive images at Plum Island, and I'm always delighted when one of them sparks a viewers imagination in ways I couldn't predict.

The closest I ever got to the Sanefells Glacier was in 1974, briefly on Snaefellsnes peninsula (which is of course redundant, since "nes" means "peninsula" as in my own last name.) Iceland is full of magic, as Rajan and others demonstrate here on LuLa so often.

I have to say, some of these bw images don't look like much in thumbnail view, but come to life once you click and enlarge.

Rob, very intriguing. How are you getting that soft mysterious look. Should I guess?

Vaseline, lightly smeared on parts of a tiny piece of scrap glass that a local glazier cut for me to fit a cheap Cokin filter holder. Almost never used it after I saw the first roll of Kodachrome that I'd ruined with the effects of a part-tobacco filter! Glad, now, that I didn't toss Cokin away. I'd never treat a photographic filter in that manner!

P.S. Are you seeing these images of mine as thumbnails first? I had imagined that they appear at full size right away. Some other poster's images appear, to me, as thumbnails first and others not. No wonder I have little love for things digital: they spook me!

Rob, your images are perfect size for most monitors. But I have large 25 inch HP monitor and the thumbnails are very small indeed and quite frankly don't look that good. This is especially true of the more subtle bw-images.
