Though I am not exactly sure which of these qualify as abstracts I posted them.
Chris
They certainly fit my loose definition of abstract. Nice ones. Welcome to the playpen, Chris!

Yes, I thought about mentioning 'non-representational' vs. abstract at the beginning, but I thought, "Let's just have some fun!"

Mike.

P.S. I was at a presentation recently with Robert Bateman and he was talking a bit about his history in art and different styles of art.  At one point he put up an abstract piece and he mentioned that people have asked him, "What is it?"  The answer is, "It's a painting." Often the next question is, "A painting of what?"  His reply is, "It's not a painting of anything.  It's a painting.  We don't ask, 'It's a butterfly wing... of what?' or it's a sandstone mosaic...of what?'  It's a painting."

Right! This thread is for Photographs! The ones that aren't "Photographs of ...," unless they're just photographs of fun.

You like abstracts? You got 'em! Just a few of my many, many favs in b&w.

Enjoy!

FWIW-caption info--Sevier Lake playa, Utah; Crumpled flivver in the Mojave, California; Wheelmove irrigation, Oregon; Roadside paddle marker, California.

I like them all very much, "abstracts" with very dense meaning... (The first, "Hiroshima-like",  is very eloquent in this respect) not only a play of forms.

Mike.

I do wish I could find where this guy is "practicing" for his piad performances these days..

For me..there has never been a "subject? so insanely varied and rife with new opportunities. From the multi bubble prodcuing net bubbles to the mammoth bubbles several feet long changing in whatever light is available.

Ive shot photographs of these things as early 6 AM  in the summer,,and as late as 8 oclock on occasion and theres always something fresh to explore

Thank you.
