For some time now, I have been trying to photograph the Gaura (Butterfly Bush) in our garden.

I found it impossible trying to get enough of it in focus without the background. I tried shallow and deep DOF's and nothing worked.

Today I tried completely out of focus at f1.8 and this was the result.

I am interested to see what you guys make of it...
To me, it perfectly captures the "feel" I get when we sit on our veranda and watch the sunrise every morning.

(They must be viewed as large as possible!)

Both are very effective. I think you found just the right approach for these.
Bravo!

You have to see these large to appreciate the "look." Keep looking!

Thanks Arlen. This was done with in-camera filter where it pulls out one colour -blue in this case from sky- accentuates it and renders the remainder as BW, all super saturated. Almost like blocked up dense colors. Works good on graphic style images such as this one. Not so much for other types of images.

That's a cool effect, and this was a good application for it.

Thanks guys. And I really like this one, not only for its simplicity but also because it reminds me of Kodachrome

"...Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a Nikon [Pentax] camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama don't take my Kodachrome away!"
from Paul Simon
