It is a fun picture, for sure. I was bothered by the black spots in the snow. They seemed to spoil the effect somewhat.

Thanks!  Digital allows us to try different things that we wouldn't/couldn't with film.

Thanks! Those were cut corn stalks.  Easily removed.

OK, a bit of a stretch but it is abstract.

Interesting, an inverted abstract? A suggestion- also try selecting the main element, invert it, and leave the background as is. Another method to try.

I was going to put these in the minimalism thread, but hardly anyone goes there.

Thanks for the idea John.  I'll try incorporating it into the tool box.

I really like your snow shots.  Both compositions work well.
Rain and gale force winds have beaten our snow into non-photogenic crusts.

Very Nordic yet surprisingly warm in its simplicity somehow... children's book read from beneath a warm down comforter... or maybe it's just because my eyes, ears and fingers are still zoning from my brief foray out earlier this morning... the continued sea smoke all night from the reach had turned everything right glass sculpture but almost the moment the sun appeared the shot was gone... great time of year!

I find it quite frustrating when there is a fresh wintry scene outside, that disappears by the time I'm warm enough to go out to photograph it. I've missed both of our minor snow falls so far this winter.

I like your wry sense of humour! Your two pictures are beautiful.

Minor! Everything is golden again! Thought all of my Minor White archive and books had gone missing in the move to Maine...Sorting miscellaneous from movers that included now destroyable tax files, they appeared sandwiched between non descripts . I'm a happy camper today...also found my missing ND filters, spare batteries and two missing cameras in addition to my padded recharge system for my greedy but much loved Merrills. Hope I'm actually awake... yep, I can smell the leeks caramelizing... ;)

That certainly counts as a Minor miracle!   :D

Be well, stay warm, savor the leeks (but no leaks, please).

One of the reasons I like macro lenses is that they can turn even a horribly rainy, stay-indoors day (such as today was here) into fun.
