Thanks for the comments! You know, Eric, they really have. My mother made her living (not much of one, but it was a living) as an oil painter; shows on the lawns of Golden Gate Park (SF) and the strip malls and boardwalks of California, gallery shows and even her own for awhile, and of course our small living room was her studio. She started with a blank canvas or masonite, which I had helped prepare. and something she saw inside her mind, often somewhat abstract (impressionistic?), often vivid colors and most often land and sea scapes. She created over a thousand pieces in her ~40 year career. Contrast that with my 40 years in science, living within a pretty strict set of rules, and now reaching for what I
feel with an image is much different than expressing what I
think with words. I know there is a bunch of similar folks here on the forum. Anyway, yes, Alain and Andrew did "get to me" and something, too, that Rob has said numerous times about being born with creativity (forgive the paraphrase Rob); it is buried so deep, but I sense something "there" and perhaps "coloring outside the lines" is a way to reach for it.
