Or, using a Canon, print on wood veneer and send rolled in cardboard tubes. Coat veneer with high grade clear gloss.  Someone local down there can glue the veneer to the timber. Will last for decades.

Not quite the same, unless you have white ink or manage to find a wood veneer that's as white as paper.
