In the 5 years I've owned my Z3100 - 24", never a clog and I don't print that often.  If this printer ever does die, I'll go to the Z3200.  Excellent B&W by the way.

I have a 9900 and a 7900 - neither used all that often. the 9900 is beside our server so it gets few clogs, a basic cleaning before each run and it's perfect. never had to clean twice in a row. prints are amazing quality.

I love these printers, but get the warranty.

A heartfelt thanks to those that responded to this "printer NOOB" post.  I greatly value all of you for taking the time and making the effort to share your intelligence, opinion, and experience.  Although I live in the remote, small town of Page AZ, on the shores of Lake Powell, pop 8,000, there may be a enough of a client base between the business community and the large number of professional and amateur photographers to keep a 24" printer running on a semi regular basis. Your input has definitely helped me work my way through this decision.  Now, I just need to decide which 24" printer!
Thanks, so much!

I have an Epson 3880 for 17" and no problems. I also have a Canon 6400 and no problems. I often leave the printers sitting for weeks at a time. The Epson is just outstanding, starts up immediately and prints as if it has never been off. The Canon stays on all the time and runs cleaning cycles as needed so is always ready. I do, however, live in a high humidity area which I believe helps. My original 3800 went three years of heavy use before crapping out.

Is there a reason for having both a Epson 3880 and a CANON 6400?

Yes, the Canon is a 24" printer and not so much limited as to length of print. The Epson is limited to 37" or so.
