Beautiful! I've been taking a lot of bird pics in the last year, but yet to get one with prey like that (other than a berry, which doesn't exactly count!).

Hi Tony

I am pleased to see you travelled safely! I trust you had a good time?

Nice one, they are swines to get to sit still!

Regards
William

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

William is correct - these birds don't stay still for long.
This was a somewhat serendipitous capture since I was shooting this bird sitting on the branch shown in the capture when it suddenly disappeared. I was cursing another missed opportunity when it suddenly reappeared after just a couple of seconds with a large wasp in its bill. I got several images of the Bee-eater subduing this wasp.

Thanks for the concern William - I did indeed travel safely but not all of my equipment did - had my 5D mark III, along with a Sigma 35mm f1.4 lens attached, stolen out of my vehicle in Windhoek. As a result I ended up shooting with my backup, the 5D mark II, for most of my trip. It was a bit of a challenge to go back to the 5D mark II after experiencing the supremacy of the 5D mark III's autofocus.
This image was shot with the 5D mark II.
