I don't question that she had competition, I question the 'normality' of those who do such risky things without some monetary reward.
Doing risky things for kicks alone seems to fly in the face of common sense.

I find that a very odd point of view Rob. Most of the risky things people do have no financial reward. Okay, not many would want to spend days in a submersible servicing an oil-rig without pay. But there's no fun in that. Young guys join the Army and go out to Afghanistan for the adventure - they sure as hell don't do it for the financial rewards. Mountaineers seldom get any financial rewards and probably most photographers in war zones could make more money doing something a lot safer.
But then you do say that you question the 'normality' of those... Well all I can say is that 'normal' people can be quite dull, and the older I get the more I wonder how many people are really 'normal'. Long live the abnormal I say!
