Poor Blurb Print Quality Using LR4

Just downloaded the Blurb CMYK icc profile and assigned it to Andrew's color target with the woman in the pink shirt AFTER converting to US Sheetfed Coated v2 with Perceptual intent and it appears there's not much difference except Blurb's has a heavier total ink coverage than Sheetfed Coated.

No hue or saturation shift, just brightness increase similar to assigning 1.8 to a 2.2 gamma encoded image. Try it out yourself.

The profile is only useful for showing how over saturated and dark and rich colors (i.e. black shadows comprising R0,G3,11B=the hills in the OP's last posted image) are going to shift.

Well they have agreed to reprint... We`ll see what happens. It does raise important quality questions like what happens when a third party orders your book and does not know what the original images are supposed to look like.

If you work with short run artist's book printers they can run proofs for you for approval. But when you order 1 book it is tough to get it all right.
