NEC 2690 WUXi and Macbook pro

I have used this set-up for a couple of years: NEC 2690 WUXi, SpectraView II and a Macbook Pro running OSX8.4 and after my recent calibration, all the drop down menus turned black and desktop icons display with black text underneath them. When the NEC is not connected, all things look normal on the Macbook. Any thoughts?
