I voted 'compact' for the X100s. It's a helluva lot more compact than anything else I own.

As I read this thread a couple things are of interest. One is the variety of cameras. The second is the number of people who are now carrying a 'small' camera.

I had the same problem with how to vote for my Canon G1X. It is very compact for what it is, especially if you take into account sensor size and lens speed, yet when you think of what most people mean by compact, it doesn't really fit. Same for anything else with a big sensor and fixed lens: Leica X1/2/Vario (latter not remotely compact); Sigma DP series; Fuji X100.

True. But on this forum, I don't think a lot of people are carrying around little P&S automatics as a matter of course. So, in that context, I figured the Compact category fit.

X100 but it is mostly confined to travel and zone focused street duties.

I switch from a dslr only as last resort which is usually because a dslr is inappropriate in the situation, mirorless camera just are not there yet in terms of speed and ease of use. If a picture is worth taking it is usually also worth the effort to doing it on the highest quality camera I own too.

Just today took delivery of a Sony RX100M2, it is the successor of my trusty go anywhere put anywhere take anywhere amazing RX100. It can now do off camera flash and see in the dark.
My Sony goes boldly where my D800 equipment has not gone before (well because of size and weight that is)

I pretty much agree with Markt. i want good, printable images in a variety of conditions (including low light) from an inconspicuous camera that's small enough so it doesn't get left behind. tried Panasonic 4/3 with collapsing zoom which blurred between about 1/30 and 1/200. just sent back EOS M after Canon announced the wide zoom is not for US and B@H put the Canon lens adapter on special order - looks like Canon is giving up on mirrorless in the US without out even attempting to sell a competitive camera supported by a selection of lenses (if they re-consider, so will I as i would love to have a Canon mirrorless as a backup).

so while i wait to see what the next generation brings i'll continue to enjoy my remarkable Sony RX100

Sony Nex 6 w/16-50. The more I use it, the more I like it. It's a giant in functionality and IQ in relation to its size.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 with their 14mm f/2.8, for street photography only. Haven't come to any definite conclusions as to how much I like it. It's may be just a temporary fill-in until my Leica 240 arrives (who knows when!)

X-Pro 1 with the original 3 fixed focal length lenses, and otherwise the iPhone 4s.

Still pondering if it is worth replacing my Canon G10 with a newer P&S, though, as it is smaller than my Fujifilm kit.
