I question the 'normality' of those who do such risky things without some monetary reward.
Doing risky things for kicks alone seems to fly in the face of common sense.
It's an absolute part of human nature. It's why people climb mountains, go hang gliding etc etc

What's sad is that you think it's only worth doing something difficult if you get a financial reward for it :(

I don't question that she had competition, I question the 'normality' of those who do such risky things without some monetary reward.

I find that a very odd point of view Rob.  Most of the risky things people do have no financial reward.  Okay, not many would want to spend days in a submersible servicing an oil-rig without pay.  But there's no fun in that.  Young guys join the Army and go out to Afghanistan for the adventure - they sure as hell don't do it for the financial rewards.  Mountaineers seldom get any financial rewards and probably most photographers in war zones could make more money doing something a lot safer.

But then you do say that you question the 'normality' of those...  Well all I can say is that 'normal' people can be quite dull, and the older I get the more I wonder how many people are really 'normal'.  Long live the abnormal I say!
