IPF8100 air bubble ink line
« on: February 05, 2013, 12:23:24 pm »

We have an 8100 with a bubble in the PM line, I can see it right by the ink head. Canon says I we need a service call at $1600, ouch, anyway I can purge this on my own or are there special tools involved.

It'll purge itself with usage. Bubbles are often caused by 1) a mis-seated head or 2) low vacuum due to under-usage. You can remove and reseat the head, pushing the black seat between you and the head firmly towards the head. Or can you ignore this and see if it ever actually causes any problems.

If you're not already, leave the printer on 24/7 and print at least one 8x10 every week. Under-usage is the leading cause of problems on these machines, IMO.

I'd initialize head change procedure (at your own risk), it managed to suck out my air bubble from ink line.

I have replaced the head twice before it was figured out about the bubble, (Canon sent me one under warranty) so I'll hold off on that but it's a good idea.
