Nikon D800E problem with USB 3 Cable
« on: July 19, 2012, 06:41:06 am »

Hello,

I hope someone can answer of question.

Since I have had my new Nikon D800E the USB 3 cable easily keeps falling out of the socket especially when the camera is in the vertical position disconnecting the camera from the computer. Is there anyway or devise to hold the USB 3 cable in place.

Cheers

I believe there is a supplied brace for the USB cable boxed new with the camera.  A small plastic part with no recognizable function.  I have one.  I have not tried to use it myself however.  But they exist.

Hi Simon,

In addition to what Nikon may offer, I find these 'Jerkstoppers' indispensable, and they can be used on virtually all cameras.

I've been using these for years, and in addition to securing the cable to the camera via the neck strap, they also secure the cable after the shoot.  Cheap too.

You can find them in most any hardware or home improvement store.

the USB people have succeeded in making a really awful plug..that drops out if you look at it.... and made it a standard...

The nikon provided plastic stopper only work with the right cable... and then i still did not managed to get it to work right..

so my answer is gaffa tape ( in my case i can connet it to the RR-L-bracket)

Hello,

Well I found the Nikon USB 3 cable clip. By the look of the design Nikon must have spent all of 20 minutes designing this piece of crap. Firstly it doesn’t even attached securely to the camera and secondly only the Nikon USB 3 cable will fit the clip. My blue 5 meter USB 3 cable head is to large.

Shame on you Nikon and the idiots who designed the new USB 3 cable terminal it the beginning.

Cheers
