Canon 8300 printer and onboard spectrophotemeter
« on: July 07, 2012, 10:26:54 am »

are there any on board spectrophotometers for Canon 8300 printers so that i can create my own profiles like i do with my 44" Z3200?

Not sure, but you’d be so better off with an external Spectrophotometer anyway. Less money, more functionality. The on-board Spectrophotometer’s for printers (certainly for Epson) is really aimed at those doing proofing that need some kind of process control and certification which you could of course do with an external unit too albeit not as automated. Look into an EyeOne Pro-2 which would allow you to build profiles, profile a display or projector, spot readings, ambient readings and so on. Or if you have really deep pockets and want an auto Spectrophotometer, there’s the iSis. Both units can deal with UV in terms of measuring or filtering along with OBA control which is quite useful.

Hoe difficult in the eye1 pro2 to set up and use?
i am very happy with the profiles created with the Z3200, and it is pretty easy to use?

Pretty easy once you get the hang of using the slider ruler goodie. The newer design makes it easier than the original.

I like the DataColor SpyderPrint. Yes, you have to be careful that the Spectro has read all the patches properly, but once the readings have been done, you have a lot of options with sliders to control your profile and customize it to your heart's content. I find the resulting profiles are a bit smoother than what the base spectro package on the Z3100 delivers.

I like the DataColor SpyderPrint.

Unfortunately it isn’t a Spectrophotometer (despite the marketing name provided; spectrocolorimeter).

Your answer is NO there isn't. I use the new X-Rite Pro package. But what is nice about both the Canon and HP printers is that you can linearize them as often as you need to. The HP linearization is especially nice in that it is done for each type of media you use.
