LR4Beta: What is the purpose of dyanmiclinkmanager?

I notice that dynamiclinkmanager is installed by LR4 beta and starts running in the backaground on Windows.

What is its purpose?

Where is documentation about it?

Why do I need this running in order to edit/develop/print photos?

Please someone explain...
