The thing I wasn't happy with on the 17-50 was the smoothness of the zoom.

Christopher,

Thanks for your response.

Hadn't heard about that issue before. Disliked the 18-50 the only try I tried it, but the 17-50 gets better reviews. Wish there we're other affordable options. When I get a chance I'll head down to RED to take the the 17-50 for a spin.

Maybe look into Leica too. Is yours parfocal?

I've only used Cooke a few times, & they had a lovely soft, yet sharp, look. Did you buy a matched set?

Lots of my work involves travel, & hoping my EOS glass might serve double duty, pre-purchased a Birger mount awhile ago, but time's wasting.

Thanks,
Bern

I've been on the fence with that Tokina for a long time.

I'm renting a regular Tokina 11-16mm for a week to give it another try. It will be a busy trip, & I'm unsure if I get to test it properly, but if so I'll report back. Unfortunately I'll only be recording 1080P, & won't know how it hold up at 4k+.

Hadn't seriously considered this lens until I realizing Duclos reversed it's focus direction.
