revaaron interesting post and rather sad too.
Those are quite some spots and marks shown randomly all over the film compared to what one may get on a sensor.
I would rather dodge the prediction of some spots one gets working digital and can even compensate for.
So is this just another demise for our old love, are the labs just not in the regular swing of non sloppy application and keeping the process impeccable?

The velvia 50 show no marks at all that aren't caused by dust.  That film is amazing.  I'm really surprised by how terrible the 35mm Kodak 160 portra is performing. My previous favorite film was 120 Kodak 400VC (and UC before that).  I'm not sure what is up with it, but the results are noisy with dark spots on the negatives.  I expect stuff like that (and color shifts) from the "s#it!y" film that is in the middle, but the brooks pharmacy expired in 2004 35mm film is performing better than the kodak portra 160 that expires in 2012.

If someone were to change the God awful subject line of this thread then maybe more folk would actually contribute to it.

Keith, did you watch Culture tonight?

I'm now in love with velvia 50.

but that said, 8-year expired film that has been shipped back and forth across the US before getting used does the job too.

IDK why, but I'm not liking my results from kodak portra 160 anymore.. there seems to be dust all over all the portra I develop even when there isn't. This happens on MF and 35mm. weird.  I guess I could brush it out in PS.

Beatiful pictures and  a lot of confidence in the dogs ;) , no way I am leaving my open bag close to a member of the canine species. Looks that they deserve the confidence on the other hand.

I am thinking of getting an inexpensive Nikon film body for fun. I live in Costa Rica, so before I buy, I need to be sure that I can get all the supplies, more than nothing chemistry.

Keep the inspirational posting :)

Best regards,

James

No. Should I have?

Sorry for the delay - been nursing the flu...

Yes, I think you should; they seem to be quite capable and turn over some interesting people. There was a painter I thought you might have enjoyed - can't remember his name, but I'd never heard of him and he ¡s kaput, but nice work nonetheless.

Damn! Just managed to get a smear of salad cream behind the left clicker on the mouse!

Considering film is dead apparently, it's surprising how many here turn to it for their non pro work:-)

My mother's baby spoons. Since she passed in 1999, I cherish most of her things that she left behind.

This is a shot of a friend of mine in his work gear.

I love the second shot "Dad with his children holding his work tools".
