Still from video compared to 'normal' still.
« on: March 16, 2011, 05:03:59 am »

Having no experience in the video side of things I was wondering if someone might be able to give me an idea of how a still frame taken from a 5D Mk II video would compare to a normal (RAW) frame? Can you make the assumption that the 1080 horizontal lines in the HD video is the rough equivalent to 1/3 the 3000+ horizontal pixels of the sensor? Or is there no correlation at all?

In a nutshell I guess I want to know is what the quality of a video still might be.

1080i/1080p = 1920×1,080 pixels which is just over of 2.1mp.

and it's sort of equivalent to a JPG.  Plus the shutter speed may well have been set to 1/60th or less which will give motion blur.
