Question re: Beattie Intenscreen for Pentax 645
« on: March 25, 2011, 07:38:35 pm »

I got this along with some other stuff I bought. I have no idea whether this is the real Intenscreen. Does the Intenscreen have any particular marks or other distinguishing features? Since I don't have a Pentax 645, I can't check it myself, and the nearest pro shop is a couple of hours away...

perhaps you can take out a focusing screen from another camera and compare side by side?
put a light through it or something maybe you can see the difference?

You've got to watch out for this one. Very often when you come across a box for a Beattie screen, or a 'Blad Acute Matte, or similar, what is actually inside is the original crappy screen which the camera owner put there for safekeeping when he swapped it out. Same with me - my original screens are in the boxes, and the good ones are in my cameras.
