Questions about Nikon 14-24 lens
« on: January 26, 2011, 05:21:24 am »

With proposed acquisition of GH2 reducing portability issue as criteria for lens choice with 5D2, I'm giving some consideration to optionn wider than standard. One of these is Nikon (Nikkor?) with 16-9 (aka Novoflex) adaptor which can be chipped to give focus conformation readout on 5D

I have 2 questions:

1) Fitting the adaptor to the 14-24 requires (according to 16-9 website) removing a piece of the rubber sealing ring. Clearly this won't do a lot for resale value - would it be possible to have the seal replaced by a service centre?

2) Ability to use ND filter is pretty essential for me at this focal length - I heard someone had devised a way of attaching square filters to the 14-24?

Nigel,
I can't help you for question #1 but for the filters, Lee Filters sells a kit that does allow to attach filters to the 14-24 lens.

Edit: You can find a FAQ and more images of the product on Robert White site:

Thanks - had a look at that - sort of makes me warm towards other alternatives!
