Vancouver BC and Whistler Location Suggestions
« on: December 29, 2010, 12:47:55 am »

I will be there this Thursday through Sunday and am looking for your suggestions on places I shouldn't miss. I am a landscape photographer that has recently been smitten by the HDR bug and can't wait to get there.

Stanley Park is a great place. From there you can also shoot cityscapes looking across the harbour back towards the city!

New snow. Go up to Whistler.
with the sun the mountains should be spectacular.
If it is at all foggy, go up Cypress or Grouse skyride; or do that anyway.

You definitely have to go through Stanley Park, take the gondola (made in Switzerland) up to Grouse Mountain (I think you can still do the "Grouse Grind", though it's closed in winter) and go visit the 2 Grizzly Bears (their names escape me).  You can also take a very nice helicopter tour from the top of Grouse Mountain.  Naturally you have to visit the Capilano suspension bridge, if your stomach can handle it.  Vancouver is certainly one of the nicest cities in the world and I've been to a lot of them.
