Hi everybody,

I want to share a software with you that I am just evaluating on the advice of a cineast and I am so enthousistic that it can really power up your workflow and open new artistic paths.

Available for both PC and MAC (wich is not always the case with Autodesk)

I could have post that in computer, or movie section. but in fact it is much more than that and it is an incredible powerfull tool for stills and by it's nature (high end multimedia edition) it will concern much more the people that are generally present in this section only. So apologyses to the purists, this is not MF but this concerns the users here. As always, if moderators estimate that this is not the right section for this post, no problem, just move it.

It's the Autodesk Combustion. (the guys from Autocad) Now Combustion will probably not be updated anymore in the future and replaced, check in autodesk but as it is is just a great software widely used for years ahead and a way to enter the logic of autodesk products.

They are very present in the cine industry with Smoke etc...

There is a difference with after effects. AE is a consumer software, the autodesk products not really are.

I checked so far some modules and truly we are talking about very serious stuff. The Keying for example is much more powerfull and precise and easy that whatever you will obtain with our traditional consumer softwares like Premiere, Final cut etc...This is a software for an industrial environment but it would suit brillantly the independant photographer or film maker.

I strongly recommend you take a look on the other media softwares from this company, Mac users are better treated and before you purchase the latest Apple software have a look, call them, test their programs because it could really change your imagery and workflow.

About this particular program, Combustion, the interface is different, so as the logic involved and aimed to prod engineers. This is not "friendly" at first, rather complex but I'm starting to get use of it and it's just amazing. The operators (called filters in Photoshop) are impressively powerfull, precise.
Keep in mind that you can insert any kind of footage, 3D render, stills from your backs, whatever you need to work on with layers.

And a non-linear editor for Mac users
