For anyone who's interested there is an article in the Irish Times newspaper today about me and the book. Here is a link to the Irish Times website.

The trouble with your book Enda is that I am reminded just how utterly inadequate I am when it comes to landscapes.  :)

Best of luck with it anyway.

The cover page looks fantastic! Who prints this? Is this self published? If you had it printed via blurb - a few of us in the US can order it directly....congratulations!

"a land of flawed wonder and timeless beauty" -- A nicely-rendered phrase, I like it. The book looks great, too.

Hi Umesh

A really good company in Ireland printed it. Very high quality printing and I got a good price. They really bent over backwards to accommodate me and with a quick turnaround.
I is self published. I want to design it myself and have full control over the quality and content. It's going to get reviews in most of the main Irish broadsheets. It was in the Irish Times yesterday. I just felt I didn't need an agent or publisher and wanted to cut out the middleman. Waterstones who are the main book store contacted me this morning and they want to sell it. I'm getting into local newspapers in the bigger towns and cities where my photos have relevance and simultaneously getting it into the main book shops in those areas.

I had at the very beginning considered Blurb, but their printing costs are just too high if I want to sell it to stores and make a profit. The book would become too expensive. It's a coffee table book at €34.95 and printed to a higher standard than what Blurb could offer. (I did get a sample book. It was quite good but not good enough for what I wanted. I  wanted a high end product)

Thanks for your comments Umesh :)

Oh I'm not knocking myself, just saying that I do not have the attributes to shoot landscapes to your level and to be honest I am more than happy to admire the work of those that are good at it whilst developing my own strengths elsewhere.

To me the greatest visual virtue of Ireland is the light that shines after an Atlantic storm, especially in late summer and autumn when then comes that most incredible golden hue, an aura that makes the whole landscape light up and radiate in a fantastic way that I cannot recollect seeing anywhere else. It is I believe the the true gold at the end of the rainbow for the two phenomena are closely associated with one another. I know I'll never do it justice with a camera so I just sit back and enjoy, which is just how I feel about your work.

Thanks so much for you very kind words Justin.

Ya the light in Ireland is sometimes unique. :) Not many places where rain and sunshine occur simultaneously in the same spot. That's probably my favorite light too. I love the way the drama of the rainclouds becomes so stark and dramatic due to the sunshine illuminating the whole scene and the way the rain droplets glistens in the sun.
