Do a Google search on "dark frame subtraction" and read your camera's manual to see if it supports that function (it's often called "noise reduction" or something similar).

Sony DSC-F828 Time Exposure Image Defects
« Reply #1 on: February 05, 2005, 01:32:53 am »

When taking long 15-30 second night time exposures, the dark areas of the image are peppered with tiny white pixel-size dots that look like stars against a night sky.  My old DSC-F717 and F707 produced no such artifacts.

All of my pictures taken at shorter exposures exhibit none of the above defects.

Anyone know what causes this problem?  Has Sony corrected this problem in later models ?
