Moving the library
« on: September 24, 2010, 10:56:58 am »

I have created my lightroom library that I have been using for the last few months on /Volumes/PhotoRaid/Digital2/ and would like to get rid of the 2 in the digital or move the whole library up one level so it sits on /Volumes/PhotoRaid/ along with all my photos (and 1:1 previews). Is there a way to do this without having to export it, making a new library in the location I want and re importing ?

It's simpler than you think. Close Lightroom, then go to that folder and move the catalogue and associated previews file where you want. Then double click the catalogue file.

So there is no path issue when doing that ? I guess the path names in the catalogue are relative and not absolute ?

There's a difference between moving the catalogue and moving the images that are associated with that catalogue.  Moving the images is best done within Lightroom, but the catalogue you can move to a parent directory as described.
