A couple of questions about the HyFi
« on: November 02, 2010, 12:06:15 am »

1) Any know if it is possible to reverse dials for shutter speed and aperture?  I don't mean swap them, but to have the direction of spin reversed?

2) When moving AF to the focus button on the left side, the camera defaults to one-shot (locking) focus.  Anyone know if and how this can be changed to continuous?

Thanks in advance,

Hi, I haven't got the camera in front of me, but as I recall, there are three settings: S-single, C-continuous, M-manual. A nice feature, the one I use all the time, is to set it on manual and then you can press the button above the focus setting for an instantaneous auto-focus after which the focus returns to manual.

Hyfi? If the Internet is not a good example of democracy, what is?  :D
No wonder is banned or limited in some sorry countries.

that's funny... ummm  maybe if Phase could join the party officially then we could work another letter into this moniker?

PhyFi or Hypfi ?

Thanks, Neil.  I've actually got mine in manual focus mode, and when I press the button, it acts like it's in 'S' mode.  Do you know of a way to have it act like 'C' mode?

Basically I'm separating the AF operation from the shutter button, but I'd still like the option to have one shot or continuous focus capability.

:)

We were talking about this in another thread--what a pain in the a#@ it is to continually write Hy6/AFi.  I proposed a couple of names, but we finally came up with something like the "Rolleafase HyFi", or even Rolleaf HyFi, since Phase owns Leaf now...  Graham Mitchell came up with "HyFi" -- it works!  :)

Looks like I found a workaround for my own question 2)--The HyFi lets you suppress AF with the use of the button.  So leaving AF tied to the shutter release, the button just above the AF mode will disable the AF.  It's the opposite of how I'd like to use it, but I'll give this a try to see if it works.

Otherwise I'll just have to live with AF-S only operation when the camera is set to manual focus.

Best,

FWIW, the 6x6 film back has arrived from DHW. In short, it exists.

Similar in design to the 645 back, it is programmable for 120/220 film, has an integral darkslide, and clips right on to the camera. Unlike the 645 film back, there is no adapter plate - it mounts directly to the Hy6 body.

Hi, Geoffrey,

Congratulations!

Do you mind my asking how much they cost?
