Calibrating two monitors with different software?
« on: March 08, 2010, 11:13:40 am »

Hello,

I have two NEC monitors in my setup.  The main is an NEC LCD2690WUXi2 (Supports Spectraview software) and the secondary is an NEC EA231WMi (does not support Spectraview, even though it is NEC).  I also have a Spyder3 Elite (I know, not the best, but it's what I have, so I'll make the best of it).

I can calibrate the WUXi2 using Spectraview and the Spyder 3, which seems to be preferable since it controls Monitor LUTs.  Spectraview won't deal with the EA231WMi however, so I have to use the Spyder 3 software to calibrate that one.

Should I avoid doing so, and instead use the Spyder 3 software even for the WUXi2?  Or should I be looking at a 3rd party software, such as BasICColor display 4, that supports monitor LUTs and can deal with both monitors.  (BTW, is it possible to buy BasICColor 4 online?  Distribution in Canada is very limited).

Cheers,

Luc
