My new site went live today.  It was designed by Stephen Birchmore who really knows that less is more.  He also is a master at optimizing images to load fast and stay sharp.  Jim

Clean, easy to navigate, and some nice pictures, too!
Definitely a winner.

Nice but on chrome I can't read the menu anymore after I clicked outside the chrome window or when the whole background is loaded.
never mind, visited it a second time and now there is a nice white bar around it and it works.

Very clean and quick to load. Two comments:

1. I expected to be able to click on one of the photos on the front page, to see a larger version. I can't.

2. It would be nice if the arrow keys worked for navigation in the galleries. They don't (at least on my MacBook Pro, 10.6, Safari).

Nice photos, though.

I think it is a very good website.
I tend to like the designs that do not disturb the work, clean with good usability.
Work is well rendered.
Also, you avoided what really p... me off,  those distracting slides that jump on you when moving your mouse. Well done!
If I want the slide, I'm big enough to call them when I want, not like these teenagers flash gadgets. You have done it very well.

The ideal, would be the possibility to use arrow keys. If you have access to your swf, and if not in AS3, it is easy to implement.
But I have the feeling that it is in AS3.
Java is not helpull.

But, very good, easy to navigate, a pleasant experience.

Jim, the site is okay, nothing special, but the photography is SUPERB. I admire your vision and they way you execute it tremendously.

Thanks for taking the time to review my site!  I asked about making the home page images link to their counterpart and found out it's not part of the plan.  Has the site loaded quickly for everyone?  Jim

Same thoughts here.
The site is lovely and clean, which shows your work off nicely. CLicking onto next lot of thumnails was a bit fiddly and I think more thumbs would be nicer too.

Not part of the plan?  Hope it is not a template limitation he doesn't want to alter ;-P  Your images I have seen have always been top notch clean superb.  Like mentioned before...The site does the job..stays out of the way, clean looking, yet I agree the links off the home thumbnails should redirect to their corresponding catagory. The less metal glitches a user experiences the better.

Well, I think something is definitely not working with the home screen of your site. I am using MacOS 10.6.2 with Firefox 3.6 (all latest, including latest Flash) and when the entry screen comes up I cannot click on anything. Moreover, when I move the mouse, the mosaic pictures completely disappear and nothing happens anymore.

Great work, however I have to agree with Rainer on the HDR look of some of the images.

My new site should be up in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers,
Willem.

Again thanks for the input and taking the time to review the site!  Which shots seem to be too voodoo'd (HDR wise)?  The home page image won't be a link, the gallery names at the top are the link.  I'm forwarding the forum to Stephen, perhaps there's something he could do though.  Jim

I love the fact that the images scale, so a full screen browser shows LARGE images. Well done.

Eh!? The plan should include what ever you require him to include in order to make you site work as well as you want.
The request is very reasonable and the behaviour would then be what most people would expect from such a home page with images taken from various galleries.
