I would love to hear your thoughts on using the DF and Aptus. It seems there won't be any way of looking at this stuff at PhotoPlus this year.

Hi John I've had 2 days to work with the above combo and I must admit I'm growing to like it a lot. There are many small (and bigger) improvements that make this package into a very powerful tool.

One of the biggest drawbacks for some people was always the shutter lag which has now been halved making it as quick if not quicker as the H1/ H2 bodies. The release button itself has now got a much shorter throw and a real "click" making it even more responsive.

The next big thing is the ability to use the LS lenses and to operate the focal plane shutter ONLY, thus saving on the leaf shutter life and enabling speeds of up to 1/4000 sec. You can also choose to let it switch shutters automatically: The LS up to 1/800 and then the FP takes over from there.

The eye cup is a bit longer and works better with the Aptus giving some more room for bigger noses:-)

The custom functions have been simplified and include additional mirror up settings and so on (better read the manual for all these options)

The list goes on but I think the best is to try the system 1st hand.

As Michelle states above the camera will be at DT during the show. You will be advised if it shows in other places as well.

Did they fix the LCD in the prism?

The older model AFDs , often show the lcd inside the viewfinder as partially
cut off depending on how you hold the camera.
