EOS 50D and TC-80N3 Controller Combo Doesn’t Work :
I have a new EOS 50D and wanted to use a holdover from my EOS D60 days – the Canon TC-80N3 Remote Controller.
Now I hadn't used the TC80N3 in 2-3 years – and it doesn't work with either camera!
The TC80N3 connects to the EOS 50D just fine. The lithium CR2032 battery seems OK as I get normal displays. I also removed, cleaned, and properly reinserted said battery. After setting the self-timer mode to 25 seconds (as a test) – I set the 50D to single frame (1-shot) with Auto Focus on.
Finally, I pressed the TC80N3 release button and it activated the 50D shutter immediately -- no self-timer delay. In a low-light situation it will even activate the camera’s popup flash.
As it’s been a while since I used the controller, I’m wondering if I missed anything operational along the way – with both cameras. Should I use a certain 50D (and D60) Basic and Creative Zone setting? I'm at a loss.
Any ideas directly -- or possible referrals to a solution?
Thanks.
