Sounds good to me. Is 4 litres considered a lot for the heads or would one consider the warranty to be far from the median life of the heads?
It isn't that good, but is an improvement from about 2.5 liters for previous warranty. The expected printhead life is about 8.3 liters from my previous estimation. I can't be sure how I came up with this figure, since Canon's guide shows number of prints of a certain size. Probably I used mean coverage figures and figured the area, since prints have usually been about 0.9 ml per square foot in my usage. This would make the warranty less than 50% of expected life. The expected printhead life guide from Canon is here:
http://canonipf.wikispaces.com/file/view/E...feGuideline.pdfThis works out to a cost of 15 cents per ml printed of warranted printhead life, making the cost of the printheads a significant part of printing. Of course, if your printhead has the average expected life, the average cost would only be about 7.5 cents per ml for printhead costs. All of this assumes that you do a lot of printing. If you are a low volume printer, the warranty will expire well before you reach the 4 liters per printhead, and you could be in for a large expenditure. Still, I love the fact that I never have to worry about doing cleanings/nozzle checks like I had to do with Epsons. Never had a bad print, at least not due to the fault of the printer :-)
