moab dual-sided 190 bright/natural
« on: March 22, 2009, 12:59:46 pm »

hey Gang.

have to say, thanks for all the timely replies!  I'm very new here and even NEWER to the inkjet printing process.  you've all been great.
Here's another one:
I've decided to give the MOAB bright(or natural) 190 gsm a try.
1) I need something I can print a pretty saturated image on both sides and yet
2) something that's light enough to be bound (with a gutter) AND lastly,
3) I need something that will give a nice tactile "experience"....
This last point may sound a bit much but I have been surprised a few times by the 'fingernails on chalkboard"-like feel I get from some of these
coated papers.

Can anyone out there give me some feedback on similar experiences?

many thanks!

Stephen-

If you are looking for a tactile experience, you are likely to be sticking with cotton based papers and not alpha cellulose papers. The short reason is that you are more likely to find more pronounced texture on a cotton based paper. I don't know of any other double sided, light(ish) weight cotton paper out there other than the Entrada 190gsm.

Just as a side bar, I do consulting work for Moab by Legion Paper, just for full disclosure.

German Etching is an alpha cellulose paper, Photorag a rag paper. The first has more texture than the second.

Yes, but as I said above you are more likely to find cotton papers with pronounced texture than with alpha cellulose. There are exceptions, of course.
