No red in cs3 after calibrating monitor?
« on: December 22, 2008, 12:54:40 pm »

Hi,

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what's up with my Macbook Pro. After installing leopard about three months ago I finally got around to calibrating the monitor with an Eye-One Display2 and the newest X-Rite software. Well, I have no more red when I open a file in pscs3. I'm using version 10.5.5 on an 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo 17 Inch Macbook pro. The standard LCD Calibration i way more accurate than the one I'm getting with Eye-One.
I've done about 15 runs and they all come out the same. No red.

Am I doing something wrong here? Before updating to leopard the Eye-one was always dead on the nuts with the colors.

Any help?

BTW, this only seems to be  a Photoshop problem.

Did you happen to read this thread?

From this it sounds like the EyeOne Display may not be the best tool for calibrating an LED backlit screen like the MacBook.  I'm not quite sure what you mean by "no reds" but I do know that my macbook pro and new 24" Apple Display have no problem calibrating with and EyeOne Pro, so the gloss screen and LED backlight isn't an issue.

I know it sounds strange.
but when I use photoshop with the monitor calibrated by the eye-one, there is no red. The color spectrum only goes to orange and stops there.
When I revert to the original apple lcd calibration, everything is fine - just not calibrated.

I guess it's the eye-one. Maybe the meter isn't working correctly.

maybe post the profile it has created?  It would be interesting to look at it with colorthink pro.

It seems the profile being created has a serious problem so the device must have some type of problem.

Or its having a hard time on that display, which might be an White LED which would explain the issues. You probably have a colorimeter who's filter matrixes are expecting a different type of display system.

My monitore:
Farb-LCD:
  Auflösung:   1920 x 1200
  Farbtiefe:   32-Bit Farbe
  Core Image:   Hardware-unterstützt
  Hauptmonitor:   Ja
  Synchronisierung:   Aus
  Eingeschaltet:   Ja
  Quartz Extreme:   Unterstützt
  Integriert:   Ja

I used the eye-one on this macbook with about a year before I instaled Leopard and had great results.

Where can I locate the profile? I've searched, bu I can't find them...

Look in /Library/ColorSync/Profiles or /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays.
