16 Bit

I'm sorry if this has been answered before.  I searched under "16 Bit" with no success.

I'm debating between the HP z3200, and the Epson 9900.  I realize there are a multitude of other factors involved in the decision, but specifically I know the Epson is 16 bit, and the HP apparently is not (I assume this is correct).

Does it/can it really make a difference in the end result?
