Hi, No-- you will need the MkIII dedicated version.

Yeah I had to buy a new one too. Another thing you might run into that will drive you nuts is that when you shoot portrait on the RSS base plate , and I assume others, you have to move the camera to the left far enough to allow the remote plug to clear the mounting plate. RSS told me that was how they were made. Even so, they work perfectly.

I found the solution to buying new brackets every time a new camera comes out is to get the Novoflex universal one. And if you have two different cameras that you might possibly want to use it with, you don't have to lug two different brackets around. Alas, you will have to remove or at least loosen it to remove the battery.

If I correctly understand what you're asking, the answer is yes-- it is a quick release plate with the same arca-type shape that works with the clamps on RRS heads. Well, here it is: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/2697...ck_Release.html

Problem with that one is that you have to take the L-plate off to change battery

That's pretty slick. What I meant was will it work with the RSS clamps, so yes, you read between the lines. I take it that it mounts on the right side of the camera, unlike the RRS bracket that mounts on the left? If not, then how to you attach a remote switch, which comes out of the left side of the camera?

Really Right Stuff also offers a universal L-Plate (http://reallyrightstuff.com/rrs/items.asp?Cc=BodyMCL&iTpStatus=1&Tp=).

You'll probably want to mount it on the right of the camera, it leaves full access to attach the remote switch and you can change the battery without having to remove the plate.

I mount mine on the left but you could mount it on the right, although I don't think it would be very comfortable that way if you were holding the camera at all. This would also put the shutter release on the bottom instead of the top for shooting verticals.

Since the mounting screw slides along the bottom, you can mount it out with enough room attach video/flash/usb/release cords. I haven't tried it this way, but I suppose as long as you tightened it enough you wouldn't have a twist problem.

Speaking of tightening it down, another benefit of this bracket over others is that the mounting screw works with both an allen wrench and a coin/flathead-- a really nice design which competitors should offer for when you inevitably lose the wrench.

I don't find changing batteries to be an issue when using this with the Mark III because they last so long!

Also, I believe that the universal RRS L plate is only for smaller bodies, without a vertical grip.

Completely agree here. I wish RRS would have made their brackets with the thumb screw/coin slot. I mean what if you need to tightend it or take it off and you're 10 miles from your car and lose your allen wrench, or forget to carry it? Not a god design.
