1Ds III problem

Fortunately the interior designer I was shooting for is going through a dark phase and so most of my exposures were 5-30sec long and so I got the job done. My assistant is taking the camera into Canon today and I'll report back here after I get feedback from the technician.

You could send in an image of the problem too?

I sent the camera in with a few images showing the effect of the faulty shutter at different exposures and they identified the problem straight away. At first was told that it would take five days but after saying that in other countries you get a free replacement while yours gets repaired they came back and said that it will be ready in 24hrs. Fortunately they happened to have a replacement shutter already here in Shanghai. China's not known for providing good customer service but sometimes you get lucky.

My 1DsMk1 shuter was replaced twice. I used it a lot, and would replace it again at my own expense any time -

I think that Canon initially underspecified the shutter assembly a bit. With Nikons it was the mirrorbox that had issues.
