Yes, maybe.
If you shift the back inside the image circle it's just as you would have a bigger chip: lens cast, vignetting, distortions (okay quite negligible with these lenses)... all remains precisely in the same position.
In addition I think stitching with the back shifted in four directions is much faster and this can be an advantage if shooting outdoors (change of light, clouds... whatever).
