Photoshop CS3 actions
« on: August 16, 2008, 03:54:51 am »

I created an action, that would open a Tiff in Bridge, change its mode, resize it, and save it in JPEG at quality level 10.

It worked, except...

No matter on what thumbnail I click, the action gives me a conversion of the same image I recorded the action with.

How do I create an "abstract" action, that would convert any thumbnail I click on.

The mistake obviosly was that I recorded the opening of an image.

But I have to get an "open image" command into the action somehow!

1. How do you create the open image command without attaching it to a particular image?

2. Can you start an action by clicking on a thumbnail in Bridge CS3? The actions palette is in PS, but the thumbnail is in Bridge.

I hope I created a clear image of my lack of clarity in this matter.

Thanks for your input.

Record it without the open command then:

File>Scripts>Image Processor

From there you can either apply to all open images or operate on an entire folder. Just choose your action from the menu at the bottom.
