C1 4.1
« on: May 06, 2008, 11:39:25 am »

This came in an email from Capture Integration today, I assumed that if it was released it would be available to download at Capture One site, but have not seen it yet.

Anyone has an Idea of what is going on, and how is the lens correction component/program??

phase one camera capture one and lensesCapture One 4.1 has been released with tethering functionality. Now is the time to decide if it's right for you. Come see how the faster speed, changes from 3.7.8, and the new features will fit your workflow. We'll be discussing aspects of the software such as the DNG Output, new Lens Cast Correction, Variants, etc.

This is your first chance to use the new Phase One 645 camera. See for yourself the advances in medium format technology. We will have a variety of the new high-resolution Mamiya Sekor D lenses on hand including the hot 28mm lens.

It seams that the email from Capture Integration could have been "premature".

The interesting part about this is the mention of

" lensesCapture "

LensCapture, as one word gives the impression of a new program as opposed to just a filter in C1.

Anyway, C1 4.1 release seams imminent.

(don't know why Capture One don't like to talk about this new positive developments...)

Leonardo,

We are putting on several seminars in Atlanta, High Point, Palm Beach and Miami to introduce C1-4.1.  We currently have a Beta version and expect the release of 4.1 any day.

We have tested the lens correction tools, that help with purple fringing and chromatic abberations, as well as tethering and they all seem to working great.

Chris,

Is the lens correction a different program? What about barrel distortion, can you correct that? and is it formulated specifically for Mamiya lenses (like my 35mm that has some of that... and chromatic too)

How come you are not doing it here in New York City??

good luck with the event

The Lens Correction is part of the new C1 4.1.  It is currently located under the Color button and within the Lens Correction panel. Purple Fringing and Chromatic Aberration are then a sub-panel within the Lens Correction menu.  I don't currently know of a barrel distortion program, but that is not to say there will not be one.

The New York dealers frown upon us coming into their territory and training people.

I've about had it with Phase one.

I loved 3.xx.  I hate 4.xx.  Oh the files it produces from the 1Dsmkiii are superb but the program is a total mess.

So now I download and install 4.1, thinking that at least the watched folder might make working tethered bearable again.

The download went fine as did the install but the damn thing will not activate.  Seems something is wrong at  the phase server or something.  Sheesh...what a company!

So my my home system is broke.  No processing files with C1 until they fix the server.  Man am I glad I did NOT run this on my production machines or my studio capture workstations.

Thanks Phase One....

Man,

Don't be too harsh with Phase One, probably every mothers son, enthusiasts, hackers etc. were trying to download!

Be patient, every good product has a few bumps, 3. version has been rock solid, great tethered shooting and beautiful images, provided they were exposed properly,  still go back to it for my selects work but use Lightroom as a large part of my workflow.

At least they have added a "create new folder" icon to the file export window.

On the other hand they removed the icons of the "fit to screen" and "100% zoom) functions in the upper right corner of the screen on Mac...

I was expecting a few more enhancements in terms of colors handling (like a vibrance capability) but I guess that they keep these for the pro version.

Cheers,
Bernard

I use DSLR remote pro as the frontend with a 1DSMKIII and 4.1 with a watched folder does now show the current capture shortly after exposure.  This a  marked improvement in workflow with the MKIII.
