Well said, Ron.
Besides, until HP learns to talk to Z owners about the machines we already own why reward them with another purchase?

Ron, we certainly agree on that point!
(1) I'd add another point for anyone looking for a new printer. Anyone who buys the new printer in the first six months after it is released is a damn fool. The last time, in the case of the Z3100, those who bought the printer and APS in the first three months lost a whopping $800, when HP dropped the price by $800 after only three months, even after all other discounts and free paper were taken into account.
If you have $800 to throw away, by all means, buy the printer when it is first released.
Otherwise, wait until HP drops the price in the first three to six months.
(2) I'd also recommend waiting to see what Canon and Epson have in the works. And compare the price of the new Epson to that of HP with their inevitable price increase for a new printer. Epson claims that their new profiling system, that attaches to the front of the printer, rather than being part of the print head that sprays ink, is superior and less subject to fouling and other problems. I have no idea if that is true, but it is a very different design approach.
(3) For all of you who worked with HP on the issue of the reds -- the key question is whether the new ink will work in the Z3100. My guess is that it won't. If so, those who spent months and years working with HP on the reds issue for the Z3100 have been royally screwed.
They fixed the problem, finally. But you might have to buy a new printer to benefit from the solution.
