Putting a JPG into CF card
« on: April 21, 2008, 03:05:21 pm »

I'm trying to put a jpg file (a reference for an ad photo) into the CF card to be able to see it on location in the LCD screen without having to carry the computer or a print (the printer is broken right now)... but the camera (1ds mark III) dosen't want to display it. I've tried everything... even tried to make a photo with the camera and edit the same file directly on the card with photoshop with no luck. So my guess is that there must be something related to the exif information that is changed in photoshop. Or am I missing some step?

Any help would be apreciated.

I don't know what other resitrictions are, but I did notice, that only certain name formats are accepted by the Canon cameras. Name the file like the native JPEGs are named, IMG_nnnn.JPG and try that way (if you named it differently).

Thanks, yes, I tried it, as I said I edited a file directly on the card (without changing the name) but it did not work.

Does anybody know how to edit a jpg with photoshop without modifying the exif information?

If it's not an original file made by the camera you're probably not going to get it to work. Camera firmware programming is not as full-featured as Photoshop and other image viewing programs, and a lot of stuff is hard-coded to save space. You're trying to pound screws with a pipe wrench.
