leopard: the day after....
« on: March 09, 2008, 05:35:16 am »

Hi,

Yes i'm very stupid!
I upgraded from tiger to leopard on my mac quad g5.
Well to make a long story short i had many many problems.

In my madness i put in the tiger CD and downgraded to tiger again, and made the selection to save all the info.

BUT now all my folders on the desktop are gone, and with this folders a lot of work done to photos.
Is there maybe a place where i can find back these folders that are now gonne from my desktop??

Hope that this shout for help is bit clear.

Thanks,

Raoul (from luxembourg)

Raoul,
Try to look at the root of your hard drive to see if you have a folder called Previous Systems. When upgrading and possibly also downgrading, all the current stuff is moved to a folder into that Previous Systems folder, then the installation process begins.

Let me know if it helps?

Hi Francois,

Thanks for your answer.
I'll try it tonight when i'm back on the studio.
I did the archive-install thing, so i have a little hope that your answer good be right.

I let you know if it works.

Do you work on mac, did you upgrade to leopard, and does it work for you (lightroom, printing etc)
Everytime i pushed the buton print on my mac g5 quad it crashed, same thing on my assistents imac intel, push print sysrem crashes.

Yes, I work on Mac, both PPC and Intel. I have upgraded to Leopard and printing works fine but I still do my printing with Photoshop and not with Lightroom. Have you read the articles about printing with Lightroom and Leopard? Just in case, they're [a href=\"http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2007/12/printing_on_leopard_with_light.html#comments]here[/url] and here. I've not experience a single crash due to printing. I would look into the console to see if you can link crashes to something like corrupter profiles, permission issues, font problems etc...

Francois,

No i can not find the files back in the Previous systems folder.
But i see also that i still have the same or even less space on my HD then before.
So all the desktop folders could be still hanging somewhere in the system.

Anyhow, tomorrow i'll take my machine to a apple shop, see if they have the answer.
But i loose one day work....
