In New Zealand, the remaining triceratops are domesticated and they happily feed on vegetables.

Bit of fun from today.
My rental place has lent me a Cambo wide DS to mess about with for the weekend.
unfortunately, the weather's a hazy goo today, so no chance of decent landscapes, so I've had a quick play by a new freeway construction near to me.

What a lovely camera

The 24mm really looks good. It looks like it stays really sharp from center to corners. I also like the lanternpoles that remain straight on the side of the images, this you did not need to correct in post?

No post at all apart from levels.

That's what I'm most impressed with on the 24mm so far: It really is super sharp right to the edges & the verticals are superb- things start to stretch a bit horizontally obviously.
You also have to use custom gain adjuster with the 24. But the 35's straight out of the box as it were.

I was looking a bit on the Alpa TC as a possible camera to use with my Aptus;

I am wondering what your experience is in terms of focusing ... since digital is demanding with focus accuracy, what are your means to achieve focus?

Stopping down a lot, or laser rangefinder, tethered shooting?
And how do you rate the overall camera-based shooting experience?

I was discussing today with a photographer friend of mine about the square format. He is a photojournalist. He said he could perfectly work with a squared sensor for advertising or sports because he almost always crop the pictures. In my case this is a bit difficult. I compose the picture at the moment of taking it. So if the camera I have in my hands is a squared sensor 90% of the pictures will be 1:1. But of course, I'd change this routine, if I knew the pictures will need to be cropped to 3:2 3:4.

I only shoot wide angle lenses with the TC (24, 35 and 47mm) and focusing is basically a combination of f8/f11 + "guesstimating" distance + checking on the back's screen + refocusing if necessary. It is not as complicated as it sounds and it quickly becomes second nature. I don't use a viewfinder either, the back's screen serves that function. It is -at least for me- a tripod camera that I generally use for interiors and urban landscapes. I have also successfully used it with a beanbag instead of a tripod.
As to the shooting experience, I suppose that depends on where you are coming from; the other camera I use the back on is an Alpa XY, and compared to it the TC is light and compact and a pleasure to use. I also shoot with  5x7" and 11x14" large format cameras and, again, compared to them the TC is also fast and easy to shoot with.

Thanks Frank and Dave!  The texture is just something I painted, scanned and plopped over the image as another layer.
