I have an HP 1220C. Had it for a few years now and always been very happy with it's performance, and A3 is a bonus.
When I ran Windows 98 I had bi-directional communication between PC and printer. When I switched to Windows XP the bi-directional disappeared.
I have contacted HP about this and they never address the problem. Also been on the HP forum and found similar posts about the same problem, and the lack of help from HP.
I have the most up to date driver for the printer installed.
I have ran XP for many years now, but just thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone else has this printer and managed to resolve the bi-directional issue with XP.
