LR's % to RGB numbers?
« on: January 02, 2008, 11:10:50 am »

LR displays RGB values in percentages. It's a straight conversion to RGB bits, isn't it?

50%/50%/50% (RGB) = 128/128/128?

Can LR be set up to display RGB in bits?

Assuming an 8 bit space, which, as I recall is why it's % and not bits since (most) RAWs are 12 or 14 not 8.

You can have 16bit, even 32bit RGB values. However, the raw pixel values are not RGB components.

Oh yeah, duh, we have more bits in RAW and other formats.

Okay, setting aside the total number of available bits for the moment, is the relationship a linear one? IOW, if LR reports 50% blue, does that mean that 50% of the available blue bits are turned on?
